Damson Tree Project (2024/25)

In Spring 2024, I was very fortunate to acquire a wind fallen Damson Tree (via Bucks Art Weeks), which I cut up, and have started to create items from. Fruit trees tend to be smaller diameters, which tends to dictate the shape of the items, but I'm amazed at the colour and figure within this wood - it is the most colourful and varied timber I've worked with. Damson wood is known to be very difficult to dry (necessary before making things with), so I've had to apply a some special techniques to get the items from, and worked slowly, and I'm pleased to say I've had a lot of success with this.

However - Expect Imperfections! Some of the timber was cracked/soft, so expect some surface imperfections (cracks, missing pieces, dimples etc.) - but I hope you'll find the colour and figure more than compensates for this!

All finished in Citrus Burnishing Oil, which manufacture state is "Food Contact Safe".

Disclaimer: This website does not contain advice.  Wood turning is dangerous, this sites contains an overview of my personal methods, after many years of experience working with wood. For sake of clarity, it does not include all steps, nor relevant safety information.  Seek proper training before attempting any of these operations yourself.

No listing or photo is an offer to make, or remake an item - please see Timber Availability.
